Dermalogica FITEs to empower women

Women’s hands perform 66% of the world's work, produce 50% of its food, invest 90% of their income in their families … yet bear 70% of the world's poverty, earn only 10% of the world’s income and own only 1% of the world’s land. But an initiative by Jane Wurwand, founder of Dermalogica, is planning to change this: FITE (Financial Independence Through Entrepreneurship) provides small loans to women around the world who want to start their own businesses. Dermalogica has joined up with non-profit microfinance leader Kiva.org to facilitate the loans needed. Kiva.org’s mission is to connect people, through lending, to alleviate poverty.
