Over the last few weeks, all we seem to be talking about in the BeautySA office is what many are touting as the new miracle oil – argan oil. Used on your hair and body, we can't walk down beauty isles without
spotting a product that doesn't contain it. Moisturisers, body lotions, shampoos and conditioners, hair masks and treatment oils, it's everywhere.
But it might not be for long. Did you know argan oil is extracted from the kernels of the argan tree? And the argan tree only grows in Morocco? And these trees are now on the UNESCO endangered species list? We didn't either.
Argan oil contains essential fatty acids, omega 6 and 9, and vitamin E, which when applied, forms a protective film over your strands. It's primarily used on damaged or chemically treated hair to restore moisture while nourishing and strengthening from root to tip. It also treats
split ends, making your hair more manageable, and can be used on wet or dry hair.
Some might find argan oil makes their hair too oily. If this is the case, simply avoid applying it to your roots and only apply from mid-strand down to the tips.
