Women’s hands perform 66% of the world's work, produce 50% of its food, invest 90% of their income in their families … yet bear 70% of the world's poverty, earn only 10% of the world’s income and own only 1% of the world’s land.
But an initiative by Jane Wurwand, founder of
Dermalogica, is planning to change this:
FITE (
Financial
Independence
Through
Entrepreneurship) provides small loans to women around the world who want to start their own businesses. Dermalogica has joined up with non-profit microfinance leader Kiva.org to facilitate the loans needed. Kiva.org’s mission is to connect people, through lending, to alleviate poverty.
HOW IT WORKS
Dermalogica has special FITE-themed products, marked with the FITE logo, including
Daily Microfoliant,
PreCleanse,
Skin Hydrating Booster,
Total Eye Care and
Intensive Eye Repair. When you purchase one of these products and redeem your unique code online at joinfite.org, Dermalogica will donate US$1 towards the microloan for a specified, qualified recipient. By being part of this great initiative you are giving women, with difficult circumstances, a chance to fulfill their ambition of starting a business and being able to provide for their families.
