Expressive eyes with Empro – review

Empro’s new Diamond Black Eyeliner, R119, in a jet black shade is smudge-proof, waterproof and soft enough to glide on smoothly, but not so soft that it slips right off. The aerodynamic brush with firm bristles allows smooth and controlled application. The Day & Night Mascara Generation III, R169, is vitamin E-enriched to strengthen fine eyelashes, providing more elasticity to the lashes while the natural formula works to strengthen lashes and grow naturally. With a specially developed brush to make eyelashes stand out, one light stroke is all it takes to effectively curl out eyelashes separately and thus creating a 3D effect to the eyes, giving more volume to the lashes and appear luscious in vibrant colours. The triangular shape of the Triangular Eyebrow Pencil, R109, tip makes it easy to draw a thick line for the first half of the eyebrow, while the thinner tip creates the thin line towards the outer half of the brow. The pencil has a brow brush for user to even the colour shade on the brow.

‘I was excited to try the Empro eye make-up – the Empro Innovative Mascara Generation III, Triangular Eyebrow Pencil and especially the Black Diamond (liquid) liner.

I channelled Amy Winehouse as I prepared to try the Jet Black Liner, I love the cat-eye look she pulled off so well, most of the time. Unfortunately, this is an art I’m yet to master, and after two attempts I decided to give my lid a break. The liner requires a steady and professional hand, and with one eye closed, I painted my lid in an abstract way that would have made Amy turning in her grave. Ladies, this definitely requires practice.

‘The mascara offers a night and day look with its two brushes. What worked well for me was using the night brush on my upper lashes and the day brush on my lower ones – the smaller brush makes for easier application. The large brush separates the lashes amazingly well, adding volume while lengthening as well.

‘The eyebrow pencil, e3 Golden Brown, was a great shade for my colouring; it darkened my brow slightly and accentuated the shape very well. Brow brush for tidying and shaping included, these products are a great new addition to my make-up bag.’
