Zooey’s look is all about big beautiful eyes, cheeks that look like they’ve just been pinched and
gorgeous glossy-looking locks. The best bit, however, is that it isn’t too difficult to pull it off yourself.
HAIR
To get hair like Zooey you’re going to need to rev up your shine-factor. If your hair’s dry or in need of a little TCL, invest in a good hydrating treatment like
Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor deep treatment,
R84,99. It contains moisturising safflower extract, protein to strengthen fragile strands and silicone to smooth down the hair shaft and create a healthy-looking shine.
Once your hair’s in good shape, ask your hair dresser to cut a thick, heavy fringe and snip into the ends a little. At home, run a little shine-booster through the ends. Be careful not to get it near your roots or they could end up looking greasy. Next, whip out your curling iron and wrap large sections of dry hair around the barrel. Leave each section for a few seconds to create curls that can be brushed out a little so they end up looking nice and loose.
MAKE-UP
Face: To create a fresh-looking even-toned complexion, apply a mid-weight mattifying foundation like
Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra 24H foundation,
R395. Next, hide any dark circles and imperfections the foundation didn’t manage to blitz with a little bit of concealer. We like
Clinique Even Better concealer,
R240. It stays during the day, doesn’t settle into fine lines and contains vitamin C to help improve the look of pigmentation.
Eyes: This look is all about doe-type eyes fringed with thick luscious-looking lashes. To begin, draw a thick line on the top of your eyelids with a black liquid eye liner like
Clarins Instant Liner,
R220. Next, use a dusty grey eye shadow on your entire eyelid, extending the colour just above your crease. If you go over the black liner, you can soften it up a little so it doesn’t look to harsh. This will also help you disguise any ‘wonkiness’. Finish the look by giving your lashes two or three heavy coats of a dramatic
volumising mascara, something like
Smashbox Full Exposure mascara,
R180.
Cheeks: Make your cheekbones bloom with something like
Benefit Poseytint tinted lip and cheek stain,
R265. Simply dab a little onto your finger tips and then blend it into your cheeks, being sure to sweep out and upwards to create a natural-looking ‘lit from within’ type of flush, the kind you’d get from a brisk walk outside in the cold.
Lips: To finish up, apply a creamy-textured rose pink lipstick that boasts a touch of coral. We think
Bobbi Brown Rich Lip Colour lipstick in Guava,
R260, is a good match.
