On a thread

Tuesday, August 07, 2012   |
On a threadBeauty South Africa visited the trendy Urban Apothecary salon in Wembley Square to learn how eyebrow threading really works. This specific technique originated in India and has now become rather popular in South Africa. This hair removal technique is not just for your brows, but can be used to remove other facial and bodily hairs.

Also known as fatlah or khite, which are Arabic words for threading, it is a great alternative to waxing, and offers less damage to the skin. Eyebrow threading involves using a thin piece of cotton and twisting it into a double stranded thread. This thread is then used to pick up a line of hair and remove it. The beautician may want to tidy it up more by trimming the hairs and brushing them after the process.

This technique allows for a quick, precise, clean hairline. Another added benefit is that it removes the hair from the follicle; therefore it offers longer lasting effects. You would need to go for a repeat visit after about four weeks.

Must definitely try this, not fond of doing it myself and wax gives me a rash. Thanks for the info.

Threading is by far the best in comparison to plucking and waxing.

Have always threaded by eyebrows. Its simple, clean and accurate. I pay R40, but heard there are some places in joberg that do it for less than R20.

I've started to thread and my brows have never looked better. It completely changes your face. My brows look clean and the shape is fantastic.
