Season tips from a pro

Monday, September 10, 2012   |
Seasons tips from a proCelebrity hair stylist, guru and BeautySA hair expert, David Gilson, gives us his top five tips for keeping your hair in top shape this summer season.

1. Treat yourself to a treatment

After a long winter it is important to focus on the condition of your hair. Pop into your nearest Carlton Hair salon for one of our Davines naturaltech treatments and don't forget to consult with your stylist on which one is best for you.

The Energizing Hair Loss treatment reboots and replenishes your hair, the Nourishing Hair Reconstruction treatment puts a spring in your hair's step by restoring its moisture after a dry winter, the Purifying Anti-Dandruff treatment gets rid of any unwanted flakes for a fresh spring feel, the Calming Soothing treatment soothes and relieves dry scalps to prepare them for the summer, and the Detoxifying treatment renews, regenerates and revitalises your hair from environmental damage.

2. Add (a bit of) colour

Just as our wardrobes change, so should our hair. The look this spring/summer is very bright so I advise applying the same fashion to your hair. Add flamboyage to your hair for a lighter, brighter, summery feel. For coppers/red heads, why not intensify your colour to match the bright summer. If you are on the lighter side of things and fall into the blonde category, lighten your blonde for a sun-kissed look. Brunettes, add flamboyage to the ends for a radiant look.

3. Cut a fringe

Fringes are huge right now – full and strong looks amazing, especially on long hair to change it up.

4. Change up your shampoo and conditioner

As the seasons change its important to relook your homecare. Our hair needs change according to season so it’s important to remember this when stocking up!

5. Don't only focus on your hair

The beach look is in every year around this time. To achieve this look try the Davines no.14 sea salt primer for Wizards, it gives the best beach look, and what's more it smells like cupcakes, R208. Another fab product is the Davines naturaltech wellbeing spray. Spritz this over your hair and body to de-stress and smell fab, R220. The Davines momo serum should be applied daily to protect your hair from harmful UV rays, R235. Regardless of the season, always use Davines OI Oil, R400, to treat, style and finish your hair.
