Love My Lips - the lip gloss that includes a drink spiking test!

Friday, August 05, 2011   |

Heard about Love My Lips Maximizing Mint Plumping lip gloss, R129,95. Its been in the news here and there because a) it's a tube of glossy fabulousness and b) comes with a two little strips that help you test your drinks for date rape drugs.

Love the pretty shiny packaging...

The gloss itself is a innovative 5-in-1 formula that benefits from the addition of mint extract. This way, it can add shine and colour while plumping up your lips, refreshing them with sweet-smelling mint and adding a bit of moisture.

Shades from left to right: Posh Gloss (clear), Beautiful Pink, Charismatic Cherry, Passionate Pink and Sophisticated Coffee.

Personally, I found that the formula didn't 'plump' me up as much as I'd like, but it did look super-pretty (the Beautiful Pink shade is my fave) and felt fabulously moisturising. I also liked it's soft, pretty peppermint scent as well as the fact that the formula wasn't super sticky. (Great for a windy winter...)

As far as the drink spiking tester strips go, I'm not really able to test their efficacy as I don't have easy access to drugs like ketamine, but am grateful for their existence. I've got friends who've had the misfortune of falling prey to evil drink spikers so I know that it's an all too horrible reality.

Two drink tester strips can be found packaged along with every gloss as well as detailed instructions.

To use them, simply drop a two drops of the suspicious drink on the strips' two testing areas. If either of them turn blue, you'll know your drink's been spiked.

In all, we think Love My Lips is a great way to stay glam yet safe. If you're a girl about town, consider getting one (or three) for your handbag.

Wonderful idea - Maybe they must add more strips to the packaging though - you never know when you might need it most!
