Yes you’ve heard it so many times, but it’s true, drinking enough water help prevent fine lines from appearing. What you may not know is that these lines aren’t necessarily wrinkles – they’re dehydration lines.

Follow a skincare routine – and stick to it religiously

Your skincare routine needs to be specific to what works for you. You may have a three-step routine, while someone else may need to follow five steps. We’ve covered the basic three…
• Cleanse
Begin by investing in a good cleanser – one that suits your skin type and budget. Cleansers clean away dirt and grime and they also help to clear up blemishes, minimise wrinkles and help control oil and pH of the skin. Dermatologists recommend washing your face twice a day, morning and evening. • Tone
Not many people follow this step because it comes down to what products you are already using, how effective your cleanser is and personal preference. Toning helps remove remaining traces of oil and make-up, and should only be applied with a cotton pad. • Splurge Alert!
Extra treatments are always effective. You may want to add in an exfoliator, serum or solution before you moisturise. • Moisturise

Diet

The saying ‘you are what you eat’ has, unfortunately, been proved to be true. Excessive amounts of junk food will start to show on your skin. Replace fast foods with fruit and vegetables and balanced meals. Super foods like berries contain antioxidants, which add vitality to your skin and create a luminous appearance.

Sleep

A good night’s sleep will help prevent those black rings and fine lines from appearing under your eyes. If there were more hours in a day we all might be able to get the necessary eight hours of snooze time, but try to remember how important this is for your skin, and make the time.
